Understanding The Complexity Of Ocd

The origin of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or OCD is as complex as how it is manifested. As a simple scientific explanation, it can be described only as being caused by a biochemical imbalance in the prefrontal cortex region of the brain, causing incorrect information to be transmitted by the neurotransmitters. But beyond this general description, the nature behind how the obsession is actually being developed to become a compulsion is still undiscovered. This complexity is even translated to how OCD is seen in each sufferer. For some, it simply manifests as a blatant disgust towards dirt or germs, or in chaos and disorder. However, to some, it can be as subtle as a person’s need to always (and that means always with not exception) to please God or men. These things are all products of intrusive thoughts forcing the mind to believe that by not giving in, danger will definitely happen.
