Home Remedies for an Asthma Attack

An asthma attack is an emergency that may require emergency care or treatment at home. These remedies are not going to help for long in extremely severe cases and may only provide relief for long enough for you to make it to the doctor or call an ambulance if necessary. With that in mind, here are a few home remedies for asthma attacks that you can use if you need to help someone immediately. However, keep in mind that these MAY help to ease any small attacks, but, again, larger ones may only be held at bay.

First of all, take Scope mouthwash or another mouthwash that is super duper minty and pour half of it into steaming hot bath water. Do NOT get in, but instead, inhale the steam for about thirty minutes to loosen things up a little. Another quick home remedy is to drink coffee or caffienated beverages to help relieve the tightness in your chest. However, make sure to check with your doctor and ensure that it’s okay to use coffee as a temporary treatment. Again, remember that home remedies are not the best course for severe asthma attacks, but can serve as an aid.
